APIVITA celebrates, for the sixth consecutive year, World Bee Day, which was established by the United Nations, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators for people and the planet, promoting at the same time actions and initiatives to protect their population worldwide.

APIVITA, as a proud member of the Organization “1% for the Planet”, supports the regeneration of beekeeping on the island of Evia!

During 2022, APIVITA, as a proud member of the Organization “1% for the Planet”, committed to provide 1% of global sales of the Queen Bee anti-aging series to the Beekeeping Cooperative of Istiaia “I Kipseli”, supporting beekeepers and queen bee breeders of the region in their endeavor to develop new beehives!

The Beekeeping Cooperative of Istiaia “I Kipseli”
The Beekeeping Cooperative of Istiaia “I Kipseli” is consisted of 70 beekeepers with more than 10,000 beehives, constituting the main apiculture representative of the region of North Evia since 1935.

The consequences of the devastating wildfire occurred in August 2021 were multiple and evident, affecting the ecosystem, as well as the beekeeping activity, with hundreds of entirely burnt beehives and the local vegetation scarce and inadequate to cover the needs of the remaining bees, depriving the wider region of a crucial source of oxygen.

The regeneration of hope
Having acknowledged the size of the environmental disaster on the island of Evia, we couldn’t just stay idle or inactive. Deeply concerned we committed ourselves to essentially support our fellowmen in need, a commitment with our values, our people, our colleagues, and our partners always in mind.

As a result of our corporate initiative, 2,000 queen bees were able to be reared, leading to the development of an equivalent number of beehives, advancing the formation of those circumstances that allow the gradual recovery of the regional beekeeping practices. It’s fair to say that we managed to promote, in a way, the regeneration of hope by setting the framework for more relevant actions in the near future.
